About

I have been a Victorian legal practitioner in private practice since 1988, and a registered Australian patent attorney since 1990. I hold bachelor’s degrees in science and law, master’s degrees in law and business administration, and diplomas in technology management and notarial practice.

Between 1992 and 2006 I was a partner in the patent attorney firm Phillips Ormonde Fitzpatrick (POF), and between about 2000 and 2006 I was the head of POF’s Trade Marks team and also head of POF’s Electronics, Physics and IT patents team. I have advised and represented many hundreds of clients, ranging from sole inventors and small businesses to major international corporations.

Since 2007 I have lectured in the Monash University postgraduate law program in the subject of Intellectual Property Law. I have also lectured in the subjects Protection of Commercial Innovation: Patents and Trade Secrets, and Trade Marks Practice.
